Show #17 Is up for comments!
The trailer was pretty darn good but like yourself I was a little old for the TV show (and toys) so wasn't that hyped up by the movie but I'll probably see it on DVD or via my movie subscription not too long later.

It was a great big screen movie.

Watched the movie yesterday, an entertaining big budget action movie.
Like many others have commented the action at times was too frenetic and that S7 security guy, what a god awful character.
The week this movie came out I was forced due to circumstances beyond my control to see it and Knocked Up. I never saw the tv show, this was my first transformation and I thought I was going to hate it. Knocked Up was going to be fun, hip and a painless task. Boy was I wrong on both accounts. I completely enjoyed Transformers which easily passed the "Cohn Ass Test" while Knocked Up was torture. The lead actor was channeling Pauly Shore and wasn't nearly as funny and Pauly Shore isn't funny at all. The raging hormone jokes were so time worn they creaked. One reviewer lauded the hip "pop culture" references which consisted of the characters mentioning they had seen Spider Man. I'm sorry but you could have substituted any movie title and it would not have effected the rest of the dialogue at all. To me if you make a clever pop culture reference it has to somehow have something to do with other elements in the film not simply a mention.

Not sure what this says about me. At first I thought it was proof of my grumpy old man status but what does enjoying the Transformers mean ~ I've hit my second childhood?
If that is the case then I suspect many a "grumpy old man" or Dad found that the simple wonder they had when watching some of the TV of their youth came back with a vengeance via The Transformers.
It was pretty well balanced movie when all said and done appealing to young and old is a trick that many movies fail at by being too dumbed down/childish or even taking an R rated concept and turning it into a PG movie.
I love Transformers except the last movie.
