I looked into the UK screenings but no local cinemas were showing it and further afield wouldn't justify having time off work. Since I hate the HD DVD combo format I won't be buying the HD release either and while pirating content is naughty if they don't offer me a plain HD DVD release I'll get the HD eps elsewhere.
I've seen a few via their US broadcasts and some are very impressive and not having bought TOS on DVD only VHS a long time ago I would be quite happy to shell out some cash when the set suits my requirments.
Good chat between you and Nic and the cinema audio was informative.

Thanks for the post. Question: Why don't you like the HD DVD combo format sounds like a good idea to me? What I don't like is 2 formats HD vs Blue-Ray. Thats why I have'nt bought in yet.

The inclusion of the DVD layer jacks up the price, without it the plain HD DVD will be cheaper, I don't like paying for a "feature" I have no interest in using. I passed on Army of Darkness since it was a combo then picked it up when it was re-released as a plain HD DVD for a lower price, also have Lake House (guilty pleasure) on the way now it's no longer just a combo
That economics aside I've never liked flippers, give me disk art and truth be told virtually all the disk playback errors seem to be with combo disks and I have no real faith in the long term viability of the bonded disks.
No argument one format would have been better, even better if that format was HD DVD being cheaper to produce both hardware and software with no region mapping or the heavy handed DRM Blu-ray boasts
That said two formats have made the price of HD hit the mainstream (sub $200 or less with the Venturer players) years ahead of if Blu-ray had an uncontested playing field which has to force Blu-ray hardware to drop in price which overall I suppose is the silver lining.
Going to be a long time before we see the classic B movies appear on the HD formats though, it took many a decade before they were offered on DVD which at the end of the day is still an excellent format especially for older material that may not be as pristine as the new stuff.

Well said: Great info: I can add nothing to that.
